I'll Drink to That

I love coming up with signature drinks for parties.  For our wedding, we had 4-- something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue.  For our Halloween Party, I have 3 options.   Our bar will also be stocked with other goodies, so should be something for everybody.

I am currently in love with Tres Leches liquer.  Yes, it tastes like the dessert.  You can drink this by itself, mix it with other liquer, or what I have been doing, mixing it with root beer.  It tastes just like a root beer float.  Yum.

I found 2 new recipes I want to try with the tres leches. One is mixed with coconut rum which I also love.  The second is mixed with vodka.  It will be served in a martini glass, and I am thinking about getting these stirrers to go with.  I'm calling it the Ghostini.

I also want to have a candy corn drink.  Not sure which one I will try.  I just think it looks pretty.

The last drink option is for the guys-- the Scream Soda.  It's made with Captain Morgan's spice rum and lemon- lime soda.   It will look something like this, minus the sugared rim.

4 and 0

We had another great weekend seeing South Carolina play.  We are now 4-0.

What I wore:

You can't see my shoes very well but they are the same red studded ones from the It's Contagious post.  I switched these out for black sandals before we got to Columbia.  These are the red jeans I got from Forever 21 a few months ago that has a zipper near the ankle.  It ended up being hot in South Carolina well into the night, which I was not expecting.  I will definitely be checking the weather before the next game.  We are playing in the afternoon this coming Saturday against Auburn, so I may have to pull out some shorts if its a scorcher.

Here is my new purse from Kohl's.  I can't believe I was able to get my huge wallet and my makeup bag in there.  Note to self: you do not need a makeup bag for a game, but you do need hand sanitizer.  Porta-johns= no bueno.

And my nails

I had completely forgotten about my crackle polish until I was trying to organize my polishes on Friday.  I initially had OPI's crackle but I must not have screwed the top tight enough because it had completely shrunken and dried up in the bottle.  WTH?!  Supposedly this tends to happen.  I had only used it about 3 times, so not so happy about that.   I ended up getting China Glaze's black and white crackle during one of Ulta's bogo sales over the summer and then forgot about it.  I am still a huge fan, so if you haven't tried it yet, go out and get it.  I would stick with OPI and China Glaze.  I have heard bad things about the Sally Hansen one.   Anyways, this is over an OPI red and I did not have any issues with the application.  I know that was also a flaw with OPI's crackle polish.  Not sure why my fingers look like polish sausages here :-/.

Have a great week.

Kohl Miner

I needed to get a crossbody bag to carry with me to the football games.  I had received a $10 coupon in the mail from Kohl's that was ending this weekend.  And then my husband I misplaced it.  Luckily, I was able to find this 20% off friends and family coupon.  This should also work for you.

I got this purse

that reminds me a little of the Rebecca Minkoff Vanity Bag

$495
Plus a brown belt and 2 of these rugs (Gizmo making his modeling debut) all for $44.  I ended up saving over $69 since most of the store was already on sale.  Love a great deal.

Speaking of great deals,  Old Navy is having a buy 1 item, get second for 75% off mix and match on the whole store.  I was able to save over $160 there.  I ended up saving more than I spent at both places.  Happy shopping!

Fall Line-Up

Finally, no more reruns!  I watched Glee on Tuesday night.  I really hope it recaptures the first year's awesomeness.  I was so excited to see it and loved some parts and others I was just lukewarm about.  I think it is still going through its Sophomore slump, but hope it will get some momentum.  But I love some Sue Sylvester!

Modern Family premiered last night.  This show is HI-LAR-IOUS!!!  I'm talking laugh out loud the whole episode funny.   I am so glad they were appreciated at the Emmy's.  If you are not watching this show, you are truly missing out.

I also watched Revenge last night.  So far, so good.  In a nutshell, her dad was wrongfully accused of a crime and she seeks revenge on those responsible.  Madeleine Stowe looks phenomenal.  Can't wait to see how the show unfolds.

Tonight is Charlie's Angels.  I loved watching reruns of the original series, so I am going to give this show a try.  I'm not sure it will be very good, but I hope to be proven wrong.  Their wardrobe looks great though.

A Person of Interest also premieres tonight.  Quick blurb I found on ShareTV-- Former CIA operative Reese (Jim Caviezel) is presumed dead and teams up with reclusive billionaire Finch (Michael Emerson) to prevent violent crimes in New York.  I have loved Michael Emerson since his LOST days, so looking forward to seeing him back on tv.

Monday is Hart of Dixie.  I hope this ends up being cute, but in all honesty I will just be watching to see what Rachel is wearing.

And the last 2 shows are in the same genre.  As you know, my husband and I love scary movies, so we can't wait.  American Horrow Story premieres Wednesday, October 5th.  There is not a whole lot to go on besides unsuspecting family moves into a haunted house and its produced by the producers of Glee.

And finally, The Walking Dead premieres on Sunday, October 16th.  The first season was great from start to finish.  We have been waiting over a year for the second season.  So glad it's back.  This is not your typical zombie show.

Game Day

I went to my first South Carolina game on Saturday.  Unfortunately we did not get there in enough time to truely tailgate (it's an hour and a half from Charlotte and we left later than we wanted).  No worries my friends, we will be there bright and early this Saturday.  I was able to get a quick tour of the campus and then on to the game.

First off, what I wore.  It was COLD that day, so went with the long sleeve shirt.  I also wore my Carolina jacket I talked about last week, and my comfy boots.  Kept me nice and warm that evening.

On way to Stadium

Warm-up

National Anthem

Half-time

Playing the Field

Ugh, it was a nail biter, but we beat Navy 24-21.  Carolina you are stressing me out!!  So far, all of their games have been this way this season.  I don't know how much I can take if it continues all year.  We have a few hard ones coming up with Vanderbilt this weekend (they've been playing good so far this year) and Auburn the week after.

So of course, what's a great stress reliever but shopping!  Look what I've found thanks to Pink Lou Lou (love her blog).  Look at these cute dresses from Adabelle's Fashion Lounge.

Go Gamecocks!

Red Carpet

Wow, red dresses ruled last night at the Emmy awards, and I loved it!  Here are my faves

Favorite "almost red"

Favorite "other"

Kelly looks phenomenal

I wanted to steam her dress so bad. This was almost not on the list

And the "loved the color but not the dress"
